Troy Glaus hit a pair of home runs to help back eight strong innings by Kris Medlen as the Atlanta Braves posted a 7-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.
Glaus drove in three runs and Martin Prado added a solo home run and the Braves did most of their damage in the early innings.
Medlen (4-1) allowed three runs on four hits while striking out five. The 24-year-old has yet to lose in five starts since entering the rotation.
Jason Heyward started the scoring with a double, Glaus singled in a run and Eric Hinske’s double brought in a run and another scored on the play due to a error to account for the four-run first inning.
Glaus homered in the fifth and seventh for his 13th of the season.
Minnesota starter Kevin Slowey (7-4) was roughed up for six runs - five earned - on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked two.
Delmon Young broke the shutout with a three-run homer in the seventh, his eighth on the campaign.
