Ian Kennedy pitched three-hit ball over eight innings and Arizona clubbed six homers as the Diamondbacks routed the visiting San Francisco Giants 13-1 on Wednesday.
Kennedy (3-2) struck out a career-high nine batters while allowing just one run and walking three hitters.
Adam LaRoche hit two of Arizona’s homers and drove in four runs. LaRoche hit a solo shot in the second and a three-run shot in the eighth.
Stephen Drew hit a three-run homer in the fifth while Chris Snyder and Kelly Johnson both later hit two-run homers. Justin Upton added a bases-empty homer in the fourth.
Snyder also doubled in a run and had three RBIs for the Diamondbacks.
Giants starter Todd Wellemeyer (2-4) gave up three of the homers and allowed five runs in five innings.
San Francisco finished with four hits. Pablo Sandoval went 2-for-4 and drove in the Giants’ lone run with a first-inning single.
