Carlos Beltran hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the ninth inning, leading the New York Mets to a 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.
David Wright had three RBIs – including a game-tying two-run double in the seventh – for the Mets, who beat the last-place Diamondbacks for the first time in five tries this season.
New York won in walk-off fashion for only the fourth time all season.
Jesus Feliciano sparked the rally with a leadoff triple to center field off Juan Gutierrez (0-6). Gutierrez then issued consecutive one-out walks to Angel Pagan and David Wright before Beltran came through with a fly ball to right field that was deep enough to win it.
Francisco Rodriguez (4-2) threw a perfect ninth for the win.
New York trailed 4-2 entering the seventh, but Wright tied it with a two-run double to right off D.J. Carrasco.
Prior to that, Justin Upton’s two-run single highlighted the Diamondbacks’ three-run seventh, which gave them a 4-2 lead. Upton drove in three runs in the loss.
