Nationals 6, Blue Jays 2: Rookie Tyler Moore recorded his first two homers to go along with the first five RBIs of his career as Washington capped a perfect six-game road trip by completing a sweep of Toronto.
Stephen Strasburg (8-1) benefited from Moore's power surge by working around Jose Bautista's seventh homer in 11 games to win his fifth straight start. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed two runs on five hits while striking out eight in six innings.
In addition to losing for the sixth time in seven games, the Blue Jays may have suffered a far greater setback as starter Kyle Drabek (4-7) exited the contest after awkwardly finishing a pitch in the fifth inning. Drabek said after the game that he felt discomfort in his elbow, but had no pain afterward and was "not too concerned" about his long-term prognosis.
The hard-luck news came on the same day that Toronto placed right-hander Brandon Morrow on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.
After driving in his first two career RBIs with a ground-rule double in the second inning, Moore deposited a 1-2 fastball from Drabek over the wall in left field for a two-run shot in the fourth.
Moore wasn't done with the power display as he went deep again in the sixth inning. Playing in place of Adam LaRoche (sore foot), Moore entered the contest with just six hits in 27 at-bats.
Ian Desmond capped the scoring with a solo shot in the eighth inning for the Nationals, who completed their first perfect six-game road trip since the franchise relocated from Montreal.
Drabek fell for the seventh time in 10 starts after permitting four runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
