Angels 6, Twins 2: Albert Pujols and Mike Trout drove in two runs apiece and Ervin Santana pitched into the eighth inning for his first win since last September.
After being shut out in his last five starts, the Angels scored three times in the third inning to provide Santana (1-6) with some early run support.
The Angels extended their lead in the fifth inning when Alberto Callaspo and Pujols each drove in a run, knocking Twins starter Carl Pavano (2-3) out of the game.
Santana, who was 0-9 in 10 starts dating to Sept. 6, 2011, allowed two runs on six hits before giving way to Ernesto Frieri with one out in the top of the eighth.
Josh Willingham’s solo home run in the sixth inning cut the lead to 6-2, but Frieri quashed the Twins’ comeback hopes by striking out Willingham and Ryan Doumit with two runners on in the bottom of the eighth.
Howie Kendrick and Trout had three hits apiece for the Angels, who outhit Minnesota 14-6. Los Angeles has won four of its last five games and eight of its last 11.
