Angels 9, Orioles 5: Erick Aybar’s bases-clearing triple and Albert Pujols’ two-run homer highlighted a six-run seventh inning as visiting Los Angeles avoided a three-game sweep against Baltimore.

Hank Conger added a solo homer and scored twice for the Angels, who concluded their season series against the Orioles with a 2-5 record. Jerome Williams (5-2) collected his first victory since May 26 despite surrendering four runs on nine hits over six frames.

Buoyed by Chris Davis’ league-leading 21st homer in the fourth and Adam Jones’ solo shot in the sixth, Jason Hammel held a 4-2 lead to begin the seventh before yielding a single to Alberto Callaspo and a walk to Brad Hawpe. Pedro Strop (0-3) came on in relief and allowed an infield single to Conger to load the bases.

Aybar lined a 2-1 fastball into the gap of right-center that rolled to the fence, giving him his first triple of the season and the Angels their first lead of the game at 5-4. Second baseman Ryan Flaherty’s cutoff throw from shallow right slipped under Manny Machado’s glove at third, allowing Aybar to score on the play.

Strop recorded his only out when he recovered to retire Mike Trout, but walked J.B. Shuck on four pitches before giving up Pujols' blast on a 0-2 changeup to stake Los Angeles to an 8-4 advantage.
