Arizona second baseman Daniel Descalso homered and drove in three runs and Paul Goldschmidt hit his sixth homer in eight games as the Diamondbacks kept the visiting New York Mets reeling with a 7-3 victory at Chase Field on Friday.
Goldschmidt had three hits and two RBIs and Jon Jay had three hits and an RBI in his fourth straight multiple-hit game for the Diamondbacks, who have won seven of eight and have scored a major league-high 99 runs in June.
Dominic Smith homered and Todd Frazier and Wilmer Flores had RBI doubles for the Mets, who have lost 12 of 13 and 19 of 23. They have lost their last six series and split the other, and are in danger of losing this one after dropping the first two games in Arizona.
Goldschmidt extended his hitting streak to 11 games, during which he is 24-for-46 with six doubles, six homers and 14 RBIs. David Peralta had two hits and ran his hitting streak to seven.
Arizona right-hander Zack Godley (7-5) gave up five hits and two runs in 6 2/3 innings, with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Mets right-hander Seth Lugo (2-2) gave up eight hits and five runs in five innings in his third start of the season, with seven strikeouts and one walk. He had not given up a run in his previous two starts covering 10 innings.
Goldschmidt homered with one out in the last of the first inning to stake Godley to a quick 1-0 lead. He hit second in the order for the first time in his career on May 26, and in 13 games since in that spot is hitting .400 with six homers and 14 RBIs.
The Mets tied it in the third inning when Lugo singled before Michael Conforto was hit by a pitch. Frazier doubled to drive in Lugo, but Godley struck out the next three with runners on second and third.
Jay, Goldschmidt and Jake Lamb singled to score the first run of a two-run Arizona third before Descalso's sacrifice fly made it 3-1.
Smith, recalled this week and celebrating his 23rd birthday, hit his first homer of the season in the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 3-2.
Descalso hit his eighth homer after Peralta singled with two outs in the fifth inning for a 5-2 lead. Jay singled in a run in the sixth inning, and Goldschmidt had an RBI single in the eighth.
