Justin Smoak led off the bottom of the ninth inning with his 11th homer of the season to give the Toronto Blue Jays a 4-3 victory over the visiting Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Randal Grichuk hit a two-run homer for the Blue Jays, who have won the first two games of the four-game series to extend the Tigers' losing streak to 11 games.
Nicholas Castellanos hit a two-run homer for the Tigers and John Hicks had a solo shot.
Smoak's second career walkoff homer came against Detroit reliever Joe Jimenez (3-1). Seunghwan Oh (4-2) pitched around a single in the top of the ninth to earn the win.
Detroit starter Matt Boyd allowed three runs, four hits and two walks while striking out seven in six innings.
Toronto starter Sam Gaviglio allowed three runs, four hits and three walks and struck out five in seven innings.
Hicks hit his seventh homer of the season on a 3-2 hanging slider with two out in the second inning to open the scoring.
Castellanos hit his 12th homer of the season on a first-pitch sinker with two out in the third to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Jose Iglesias started the inning with a single.
The Blue Jays tied the game in the fifth. Kevin Pillar led off with a double, Toronto's first hit of the game. Aledmys Diaz singled with one out and Pillar scored on a groundout by Devon Travis. Grichuk followed with his 10th homer of the season on a 1-2 slider.
Toronto's Joe Biagini pitched around two singles in the top of the eighth.
Alex Wilson, who replaced Boyd and pitched a perfect seventh, allowed a leadoff infield single to Travis in the bottom of the eighth. Travis took second when Grichuk grounded out to third. Teoscar Hernandez followed with a walk.
With a 2-0 count on Yangervis Solarte, Wilson left the game with left calf tightness and was replaced by Jimenez. Solarte singled to center and Leonys Martin threw out Travis at home. Kendrys Morales struck out to end the threat.
