Mo Williams scored six of his 16 points in the final two minutes and the Los Angeles Clippers survived a strange finish for an 82-81 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.
Mike Conley had pulled Memphis within a point on a layup with 29.5 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, referees couldn’t agree whether Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe committed an offensive foul, resulting in a jump ball at midcourt with 5.7 seconds left.
The Clippers won the jump and ran out the final seconds to snap a three-game road losing streak.
Blake Griffin had 15 points and 14 rebounds and Chris Kaman scored 14 points for Los Angeles, which outscored Memphis, 23-13, in the fourth quarter.
Conley scored 20 points and Marc Gasol added 14 and 15 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who entered tied with New Orleans for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference.
Zach Randolph’s 16-footer gave the Grizzlies a 79-76 lead with 2:01 to play before Williams hit a 3-pointer and converted a three-point play when he was fouled by Tony Allen on a layup. His free throw made it 82-79 with 1:31 remaining.
