George Hill’s steal and layup and 1.8 seconds left gave the Indiana Pacers a 94-91 victory over the host Golden State Warriors on Friday in a game featuring 14 ties and 23 lead changes.
With time winding down, Hill stripped Monta Ellis near midcourt and raced to score while being fouled by Stephen Curry. He made the free throw and finished with 14 points.
Curry missed a 30-footer at the buzzer.
Danny Granger scored 26 points and Roy Hibbert had a career-high 16 rebounds and added 10 points for the Pacers (10-4), who snapped a four-game losing streak at Golden State. Granger is averaging 28.4 points in his last five games in Oakland.
Monta Ellis had 25 points and Dorell Wright added 18 for the Warriors (5-10). Ellis’ basket with 45 seconds left made it 91-91.
Curry returned after missing eight games with an ankle injury and scored 12 points on 5-for-15 shooting in 29 minutes. He scored seven straight Warriors points in a 1:09 stretch late in the fourth quarter to keep Golden State close.
The first half featured six ties and 11 lead changes and ended 43-43 after Granger (15 points) and Wright (13) traded 3-pointers in the final 1:12. Neither team led by more than six.
Indiana led 63-59 before the Warriors closed the third quarter on a 10-4 run, capped by Ekpe Udoh’s tip-in of a missed jumper by Nate Robinson. There were six ties and nine lead changes in the period.
