Hawks 97, Bobcats 83: Paul Millsap scored 28 points to lead visiting Atlanta to its fourth straight win following a 1-14 stretch.
Pero Antic had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who defeated Charlotte for the 11th straight time and pulled within 1 1/2 games of the Bobcats for seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Jeff Teague finished with 11 points, nine assists and six rebounds while Kyle Korver scored all 10 of his points in the third quarter and grabbed a season-high nine boards.
Kemba Walker had 15 of his 20 points in the first half and Al Jefferson had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead Charlotte, which had won four in a row. The Bobcats led by as many as 10 points before halftime but shot 11-for-38 from the floor after the break in falling at home for the first time in nine games.
Millsap and Walker exchanged baskets three times down the stretch in the first half as Charlotte gained a 52-46 lead at the break, but Millsap set the tone for the second half with back-to-back hoops in the first minute. He had two more layups on consecutive possessions before Korver nailed a 3-pointer midway through the third quarter to give Atlanta its first lead since early in the opening period.
A 10-0 burst helped the Hawks take a 76-68 lead into the final 12 minutes and DeMarre Carroll scored all nine of his points in the first six minutes of the fourth to push the advantage to 87-70. The Bobcats' late push fell short as they dropped to 2-9 against division opponents.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jefferson on Monday was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week after averaging 24.3 points and 11.5 rebounds to help the Bobcats go 4-0 last week. ... Atlanta made eight fewer foul shots (14-6) and lost the turnover battle 15-7 but held a 51-42 advantage on the glass. ... G Gerald Henderson chipped in 16 points for Charlotte.
