Terrence Edwards Jr. matched his career high with 29 points as No. 20 James Madison benefited from a second-half surge in its 89-75 win over Morgan State on Friday afternoon in Baltimore.
Raekwon Horton came off the bench to record a career-high 16 points, including eight in a key five-minute stretch during the second half when the Dukes (12-0) regained control after squandering a 14-point lead.
Julien Wooden contributed 12 points and T.J. Bickerstaff added 10 points and seven rebounds as the Dukes delivered coach Mark Byington his 200th career victory and matched their longest winning streak in program history.
It was the fifth true road win this season for James Madison, which is one of three undefeated teams in Division I, along with Houston and Mississippi.
The Dukes made 44.6 percent of their shots from the floor and hit 9 of 30 (30 percent) from beyond the arc.
Will Thomas scored 20 points and Kamron Hobbs added 16 to lead Morgan State (4-10), which was without leading scorer Wynston Tabbs (hamstring) for the third straight game.
The Bears looked poised to pull off an upset as they outscored the Dukes 23-9 to start the second half and seize a 58-56 lead.
Thomas scored six of the points in an eight-point spree that gave Morgan State the lead with less than 13 minutes left.
But Horton had the answer for the Dukes as he drilled a 3-pointer and followed with a fast-break slam as James Madison took a 65-60 lead with 10:10 left.
Down the stretch Noah Freidel added a 3-pointer, a layup and two free throws as the Dukes extended their advantage.
In the opening 10 minutes, neither team led by more than four points, before James Madison went on a 14-point run, with Wooden supplying 10 of the points.
Wooden buried 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to fuel the spree and finished it off skying for a fastbreak layup that gave the Dukes a 32-19 lead.
Edwards and Horton each made a 3-pointer in the final six minutes of the half to keep the Dukes in charge on their way to a 47-35 lead at the break.
Rob Lawson scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half to help Morgan State surge.
