E’Twaun Moore scored a game-high 23 points, including a pair of key 3-pointers, that helped No. 18 Purdue pull away in the second half for a 76-58 victory at in-state rival Valparaiso Tuesday night.

The Crusaders (6-3) stayed close for much of the game behind a torrid start from Brandon Wood, who was 4-of-5 on 3-point attempts while scoring 18 of his team’s 28 first-half points. A layup by Howard Little put Valparaiso in front, 34-33, with 18:37 remaining in the contest.

Moore countered with a 3-pointer at the other end to start the 8-0 spurt that put Purdue (8-1) ahead for good, and the guard hit another shot from long range to set off a run of seven consecutive points that provided a comfortable 49-38 advantage with 12:36 to go.

JaJuan Johnson and Kelsey Barlow scored 13 points apiece for Purdue, with Johnson adding eight rebounds and four blocked shots.

Wood finished with 20 points for the Crusaders.
