Darius Johnson-Odom scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half as No. 16 Marquette secured in-state bragging rights by edging No. 7 Wisconsin 61-54 at the Kohl Center on Saturday.

Freshman guard Todd Mayo came off the bench and matched a career high with 14 points, including two important baskets that held off a pair of Badger rallies. The Golden Eagles (7-0) ended the Badger’s 19-game non-conference home winning streak.

Wisconsin (6-2) trailed by as many as 13, but made a furious rally to get within one midway through the second half despite losing All-American candidate Jordan Taylor to his fourth foul with 13:29 remaining.

Although Taylor was able to avoid his fifth foul after returning to the game for the final five minutes of the game, Johnson-Odom answered with consecutive jumpers to cap an 11-2 run and hold off one final charge from Wisconsin.

The Badgers, who had held their first four opponents at the Kohl Center to just 34 points per game and 26.2 percent shooting, held the Golden Eagles to 27 points below their season average. But Wisconsin lost the rebounding battle 41-27 and shot just 32 percent from the field to seal its second straight loss.

Taylor led the Badgers with 13 points.
