Michael Devoe poured in 20 points as Georgia Tech strengthened its case for an NCAA Tournament spot by defeating host Wake Forest 75-63 to conclude the regular season Friday night in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Moses Wright added 17 points for the Yellow Jackets (15-8, 11-6 Atlantic Coast Conference), which stretched its winning streak to six games. Jordan Usher's 14 points and team-high six rebounds and Jose Alvarado's 11 points and four steals also helped Georgia Tech.
Wake Forest closed its conference slate just the way it began, losing to Georgia Tech. The Demon Deacons (6-15, 3-15) have dropped seven straight games overall.
Ian DuBose, who didn't play in the first meeting between the teams, posted 18 points and Daivien Williamson had 15 points for Wake Forest. Those two players combined to shoot 12-for-18 from the field, while the rest of the team's starters were a combined 6-for-20.
Devoe, a junior guard, reached the 20-point mark for the seventh time this season. He made eight of his 10 attempts from the floor, including making two of his three 3-point attempts.
The Yellow Jackets overcame 4-for-13 shooting from 3-point range, though they shot 55.8 percent overall from the field.
The Demon Deacons were charted for 16 turnovers and registered only nine assists. Six Wake Forest players hit at least one 3-point shot, but only Carter Whitt had two.
Wake Forest was within 50-45 before Devoe's three-point play with 9:09 remaining began an 8-0 surge for the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech led 31-25 at halftime. Devoe was the only Yellow Jacket with a field goal in the final 7 1/2 minutes of the first half, connecting three times during that span.
Wake Forest finished the game with a 29-28 rebounding edge even though its high rebounder was Ismael Massoud with five. The Demon Deacons didn't record a blocked shot.
