Ryan Miller turned aside all 32 shots he faced to make Jason Pominville's first-period tally stand up as the Buffalo Sabres recorded a 1-0 home triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday to level their Eastern Conference quarterfinals series at two games apiece.
The blanking was the second of the series for Miller, who made 35 saves in a 1-0 victory in Game 1.
The reigning Vezina Trophy winner denied several point-blank chances by former Sabres captain Daniel Briere to preserve the shutout. All told, Miller stopped 11 shots in the first and third periods and 10 in the second on Wednesday.
Pominville provided the offense at 9:38 of the first period after he tapped in a rebound off veteran Rob Niedermayer's shot. The tally was Pominville's first of the series.
Brian Boucher finished with 28 saves for Philadelphia, which also saw Jeff Carter leave the game late in the first period with a lower-body injury following a collision with towering defenseman Tyler Myers. Carter did not return to the contest.
The series will shift back to the City of Brotherly Love for Game 5 on Friday.
