Derick Brassard and Derek MacKenzie scored within 33 seconds of each other across two periods to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

Ryan Johansen added his eighth goal and Derek Dorsett clinched it with an empty-net tally for the Blue Jackets, who became the last team in the NHL to rise above 30 points (13-27-5).

Edmonton was without left wing Taylor Hall, who sat out after his face was cut by the skate of a teammate in a pregame mishap.

Brassard scored the tying goal on the power play with 0.8 seconds left in the second period. Streaking in from the left side, Brassard backhanded the puck off Edmonton defenseman Jeff Petry and over goaltender Devan Dubnyk’s stick.

The Blue Jackets needed only 32 seconds in the third period to take their first lead. MacKenzie accepted a centering pass from Colton Gillies on the doorstep and knocked it into the open net.

Johansen had brought Columbus within 2-1 on a breakaway wrist shot early in the second.

The Oilers took an early 2-0 lead when Anton Lander and Ben Eager scored within 1:49 of each other in the first period.

Edmonton fell to 1-5-1 in its last seven games.
