Sharks 3, Flames 2 (OT): Defenseman Brad Stuart scored 1:13 into overtime as visiting San Jose ended its five-game winless streak.
Mike Cammalleri capped a third-period comeback by Calgary, beating Alex Stalock with a backhander from the inner edge of the right faceoff circle at 10:25 to forge a 2-2 tie. Stuart helped the Sharks avoid an embarrassing loss when captain Joe Thornton's blast from the top of the right circle caromed off the unsuspecting blue-liner in front and past Reto Berra for the winning goal.
Patrick Marleau recorded a goal and an assist while Logan Couture also scored for the Sharks, who are 1-0-1 on their five-game road trip. Thornton finished with two assists and Stalock made 11 saves.
Defenseman Kris Russell tallied and Berra turned aside 32 shots for the Flames, whose winless stretch reached four games.
It took only 92 seconds for San Jose to get on the board as Couture scored his eighth goal of the season. Marleau's shot attempt from the left faceoff dot was blocked, but Couture picked up the loose puck and beat Berra with a wrist shot for a 1-0 lead.
The Sharks, who outshot the Flames 17-3 in the opening period, doubled the advantage during a power play 56 seconds before the first intermission. Marleau accepted a feed from Joe Pavelski and unleashed a shot from the top of the left circle that beat a screened Berra to the stick side.
After a scoreless second session during which San Jose had an 11-3 advantage in shots, Calgary used the man advantage to halve the deficit at 6:51 of the third. Russell stopped the puck at the right point and moved to the top of the slot before blasting a shot past Stalock, who was screened by Lee Stempniak.
