Senators 5, Penguins 0: Defenseman Erik Karlsson had a goal and two assists and Craig Anderson turned aside 27 shots as host Ottawa halted Pittsburgh's seven-game winning streak.
Zack Smith, Bobby Ryan, Kyle Turris and Cory Conacher added goals for the Senators, who blanked the Penguins for the first time since Feb. 12. Anderson stopped six shots in the first period, 12 in the second and nine in the third en route to his second shutout of the season and 24th career.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves for the Penguins, who were shut out for the first time since Oct. 21. Captain Sidney Crosby saw his point streak end at a season-best 10 games in Pittsburgh's worst regular-season loss since a 6-1 drubbing against the New York Rangers last April 3.
Smith opened the scoring at 6:54 of the first period, converting a rebound of Cody Ceci's shot for his seventh goal. Ryan extended the advantage on an Ottawa power play at 5:46 of the second, redirecting defenseman Chris Phillips' shot between Fleury's legs.
Karlsson scored the goal of the night to make it a 3-0 game at 1:36 into the third, dancing around Penguins rookie defenseman Olli Maatta before lifting a shot that beat Fleury just below the crossbar. Turris added his ninth of the season at 12:42, and Conacher completed the rout 80 seconds later after swatting home a loose puck for a goal that was upheld via video review.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Penguins avoided a potentially grisly scene in the opening period, as RW Pascal Dupuis nearly caught Crosby's skate in the face after the captain was hip-checked by Senators D Marc Methot while skating through the slot. ... Karlsson's assist on Turrris' goal was his 200th NHL point. ... Crosby has just six goals in 25 career games versus Ottawa.
