Flyers 5, Capitals 4 (OT): Vincent Lecavalier recorded his 900th career point by scoring 2:45 into overtime as visiting Philadelphia rallied from a late two-goal deficit to post its sixth win in seven games.

After captain Claude Giroux netted his second goal of the game to forge a tie with 1:05 remaining in the third period, the Flyers kept the momentum going before Lecavalier ended the wild contest. The veteran skated in and wristed a shot from the left faceoff circle that caromed off the shin pad of Washington defenseman Karl Alzner and past Braden Holtby (31 saves).

Jakub Voracek collected a goal and two assists to match Giroux's three-point performance and Adam Hall recorded a short-handed tally for the Flyers. Defenseman Kimmo Timonen collected three assists and Steve Mason turned aside 25 shots as Philadelphia moved one point ahead of the New York Rangers for second place in the Metropolitan Division.

Blue-liner Dmitry Orlov registered his first career two-goal performance but was whistled for a costly five-minute boarding penalty in the third period that opened the door for Philadelphia's comeback. Marcus Johansson and Jay Beagle also tallied while defenseman Mike Green notched three assists for the Capitals, who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.

After Orlov drilled Brayden Schenn into the boards, Voracek pulled Philadelphia within one at 4-3 with a one-timer from the high slot on the ensuing power play. Seeking the equalizer, Voracek's wrist shot from the upper edge of the right circle was deflected past Holtby by Giroux.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Green's three-assist performance was the second of his career. He also accomplished the feat against Ottawa on Feb. 1, 2009. ... Orlov, who converted a one-timer from the left circle to open the scoring 6:06 into the first period, netted his first goal of the season during the Flyers' 5-2 win on Dec. 17. ... Mason was making back-to-back starts for just the second time this season. He stopped 59-of-62 shots in victories over Winnipeg and Nashville on Nov. 29-30.
