Jason Pominville and Jeff Skinner each had two goals and an assist, and Jack Eichel added three assists as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the visiting Ottawa Senators 9-2 Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Okposo, Zemgus Girgensons, Conor Sheary, Patrik Berglund and Casey Mittelstadt added a goal apiece for the Sabres, and Sam Reinhart chipped in with two assists. Girgensons, Berglund, Mittelstadt and Sheary had one assist each.
Linus Ullmark made 27 saves in the Buffalo net while improving to 3-0-1 on the season.
Max McCormick and Cody Ceci scored for Ottawa.
The teams split two games over three days with the Senators winning 4-2 Thursday in Ottawa.
The Sabres took a 3-0 lead in the first period Saturday.
Okposo scored his fourth goal of the season at 5:04 of the first, a slap shot from above the right circle after a quick breakout. Casey Nelson and Vladimir Sobotka assisted.
Skinner knocked home Eichel's rebound at 6:28 of the first with Pominville also assisting. Pominville, who has points in seven consecutive games, was honored before the game Saturday after playing in his 1,000th NHL game Thursday.
Pominville scored on a rebound at 14:25 of the first. Skinner and Eichel got assists. Mike McKenna replaced Craig Anderson, who stopped seven of 10 shots, in Ottawa's goal. McKenna saved 25 of 31 shots the rest of the game.
The Sabres added four goals in the second period, while the Senators responded with one.
Skinner notched his ninth at 5:06 on a nifty pass from Reinhart during a power play, and Girgensons scored his first of the season 13 seconds later.
McCormick put the Senators on the board with his first of the season at 6:37 of the second.
Pominville added his eighth of the season at 7:06 and Sheary scored his fourth 42 seconds later to give Buffalo a 7-1 lead.
Berglund scored his second of the season at 5:41 of the third period, and Mittelstadt scored his second at 13:13. Ceci scored his first of the season at 14:14.
