Bobby Brink scored with 3:01 remaining to guide the Philadelphia Flyers past the visiting St. Louis Blues 2-1 on Thursday.
Samuel Ersson made 20 saves and Garnet Hathaway also scored for Philadelphia, which has won back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Flyers are 3-1-0 in their last four games following a six-game losing streak (0-5-1).
Nathan Walker scored for St. Louis, which concluded its four-game road trip in disappointing fashion. The Blues rolled over the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-1 to open the trip before losing their last three games by a combined margin of 15-4.
Following a neutral-zone turnover with just over three minutes left, Scott Laughton found Brink on the counter-rush, and Brink slipped it to Joel Farabee along the left boards. Farabee then sent the puck toward the net, allowing Brick to redirect it past Jordan Binnington for his second goal of the season.
The Blues pulled Binnington (19 saves) with just under 2 1/2 minutes left but were unable to draw even.
Ersson preserved the late lead with a huge stop on Brayden Schenn. With just over 20 seconds left, Justin Faulk found a wide-open Schenn in the slot, but Ersson cut down the angle and held the redirection in his equipment.
The Blues trailed 1-0 midway through the third until Walker drew the visitors even with his first goal of the season.
Philip Broberg created some space in the right circle and put a shot on net. The rebound skipped to the left circle, where Walker one-timed it past a helpless Ersson.
Both teams had chances down the stretch with the score tied. Laughton dangled the puck and made a late backhand-to-forehand move that slipped off his stick at the last second. Shortly thereafter, Jordan Kyrou unleashed a wrister that Ersson snagged with his glove.
The Flyers' first goal came midway through the first when Ryan Poehling rushed up ice, weaved through defenders and made a no-look pass at the last second to Hathaway, who rammed it home for his first goal of the season.
