Matvei Michkov scored with 55 seconds left in overtime as the Philadelphia Flyers rallied for a 5-4 road victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
Michkov's game-winner came from a sharp angle, as he banked the puck off Linus Ullmark's pad and into the net. His sixth goal of the campaign -- and first career overtime tally -- capped an impressive comeback by Philadelphia, which trailed 4-2 with under 10 minutes left in regulation.
Ullmark finished with 14 saves and Josh Norris had a goal and an assist for Ottawa, which had won its previous two games. The Senators dominated much of the contest and beat Ivan Fedotov four times, but the Russian netminder also made a series of brilliant stops among his 33 saves.
The score was tied 2-2 entering the third period before Norris skated in, with the Flyers giving him plenty of space, and his wrister from the left circle beat Fedotov at 4:27.
Adam Gaudette doubled the advantage with a power-play goal 10:05 through the stanza, as he cut to the slot before lifting a nifty backhander under the crossbar.
However, the Flyers came roaring back with a goal 37 seconds later and another a little more than two minutes after that. First came Anthony Richard's one-timer from the right circle, and then Bobby Brink stuffed home a rebound on a two-on-one rush.
Philadelphia defenseman Travis Sanheim opened the scoring with a one-timer at 2:31 of the first period, but the Senators tied the score about 3 1/2 minutes later. Norris made a crisp backhanded centering pass through traffic to Brady Tkachuk, who ripped a wrister past Fedotov.
Drake Batherson put Ottawa ahead 2-1 almost nine minutes into the second with a power-play goal -- his seventh tally of the season. But with just over a minute left in the period, the Flyers' Travis Konecny got behind the defense and Noah Cates found him for a breakaway goal -- his ninth of the campaign.
The Flyers are 3-0-1 in their past four games.
